What Is Neverness to Everness?
NTE is a free-to-play open-world action RPG from Hotta Studio (Tower of Fantasy) and Perfect World Games, built in Unreal Engine 5. You play an Appraiser investigating supernatural Anomalies in Hethereau, a modern city where the weird and the everyday overlap. It launched April 23, 2026 in China and April 29 worldwide, on PC, Mac, PS5, iOS, and Android, with full cross-play and cross-save.
Why Is Neverness to Everness So Popular?
Around 35 million pre-registrations, roughly $14 million in day-one revenue, and over ¥1.4 billion in its first two months. The draw: a drivable neon city instead of the usual fantasy landscape, a gacha with no 50/50, and hundreds of free pulls at launch. It hasn't been smooth — players spotted apparent AI-generated background art after release, and the studio confirmed AI-assisted tools were used on some environmental assets and promised to rework them.
Neverness to Everness Gameplay
Real-time combat with a four-character party you swap between mid-fight. Each character has a normal attack, skill, and ultimate, plus dodges, perfect dodges, and parries. The depth is the Esper Cycle: attacks apply elemental attributes to enemies, and combining adjacent attributes triggers reactions. Outside combat you run, climb, swim, and drive across a seamless city with no loading screens.
Main Features of NTE
- Esper Cycle elemental combat across six elements
- Full driving system with customizable cars and bikes (including a Porsche collab)
- Housing and City Tycoon business management, which awards a free S-class character
- Co-op multiplayer and cross-platform progression
- Optional first-person mode; DLSS 4, ray tracing, and PS5 Pro support
Neverness to Everness Open World
Hethereau is a seamless city of distinct districts with traffic AI, public transport, and weather that affects driving. Its signature trick: Anomalies can warp the environment into something surreal in real time, mid-exploration. The map keeps growing — Sunward Island in 1.1, Warren Continent in 1.2, Duskmoor in 1.3, Pukaland coming in 1.4. It's dense rather than sprawling; reviewers have called it small.

Demanding for a gacha game — the RAM floor rules out a lot of mid-range machines. Mobile needs a Snapdragon 855 / iPhone 12 Pro minimum; Mac requires Apple Silicon.
How to Download Neverness to Everness on PC
Since July 8, 2026 it's on Steam and the Epic Games Store as well as the official launcher at nte.perfectworld.com. Install from whichever you prefer, then log in — progress follows your account, not the storefront. To enable cross-save, go to Settings → Account → Link Account in game. Avoid third-party download mirrors.
Is Neverness to Everness Free to Play?
Yes, on every platform. Money goes into the gacha, passes, and cosmetics. It's unusually generous: no 50/50 (S-class pulls on a limited banner are always the featured character), hard pity at 90 with rates spiking at 70, pity that carries between banners, a free S-class selector, and no ranked PvP to fall behind in. The real spending pressure is cosmetic — character skins sit behind a 200-pull pity. Not pay-to-win, but very much pay-to-look-good.
Is Neverness to Everness Worth Playing?
Metacritic has the PS5 version at 73; Steam user reviews are "Very Positive." Reviewers praised the open world, combat, and side content, with scores ranging from 6.5/10 to 8.5/10. Common complaints: uneven localization, slow early story pacing, fiddly menus, and easy launch-difficulty combat.
Play it if you want an urban open world with real driving and a fair gacha. Skip it if you want a tight narrative RPG, your hardware is borderline, or generative AI in game assets is a dealbreaker.
